Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministry

Nebraska Lutheran Campus Ministry - Norfolk conducted a very successful recruiting effort at freshman registration. NeLCM-Norfolk is now chartered as a student organization at Northeast Community College. With that recognition, the Advisory Council members, with assistance from Pastor Justin Wiese, had a table at registration the first week in June. Water bottles were handed out, provided by Dr. Pepper, with the Facebook page listed on it. In addition, entries were taken for the "freshman survival kit" giveaway. The giveaway generated 134 entries with 37 indicating they would like to be contacted about the new campus ministry. The advisory council is making plans to be a a first week event along with other college clubs.

What is the "Practice Justice" day? Practice Justice is one of three days at the ELCA Youth Gathering (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) to which youth groups are assigned. On each of those days, a third of the community will practice discipleship, a third will practice peacemaking and a third will practice justice. All three days are designed to help youth make real the covenant God made with them in Holy Baptism to live among God’s faithful people; hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s supper;proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed;serve all people, following the example of Jesus and strive for justice and peace in all the earth. The ELCA Youth Gathering is a witness to Jesus' invitation to hit the streets, to follow one's convictions with actions, and to join God's work in the world. Registration for all interested 9th-12th graders opens October 9th. Contact Tracy today to get your name on our pre-reg list!
