Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are cancelling the Bright Horizons Garage Sale, previously scheduled for July 16.  Hopefully 2021 will allow us to return to this community tradition!  Thanks for your support in the past.  We look forward to next year's sale!

We're very excited to think that services may return to something that looks more  normal beginning June 6-7.  If and when we offer an 11am Worship Service, it will begin at 10:15am, which reflects our summer hours.  Keep a close watch on our facebook and blog pages and our electronic sign to see if we can actually attend church beginning in June!!

Congratulations to our 2020 Confirmands, Graduates and Moms on these very special days in May.  Due to restrictions keeping everyone safe from COVID-19, we celebrate with you all in our hearts and prayers, but are saving the hugs and squeezes until we are in the clear.  Stay safe, party in your hearts, and be ready to gather when the time comes, because it WILL COME!

After an evaluation of the COVID-19 health restrictions, it has been determined by the Nebraska Synod of the ELCA that worship services shall remain cancelled until May 11.  Until that time, we will meet together on facebook live each Sunday morning for worship at 8:30 AM.  Thank you to the very small and highly talented group that brings worship to us in our homes at that time:  Ron Lofgren (Majesty Choir director/vocalist), Steve Reinke (organist), John Skogstoe (videographer/sound guru), and Pastor Randy (front and center).  We are grateful for their commitment to St. John's, especially during Holy Week when we would be worshipping in bulk to celebrate our Lord's resurrection.  Thank you!!!

It has been suggested that St. John's cancel all services until after Easter Sunday, April 12, in cooperation with the Nebraska Synod and social distancing.  We will continue to provide our services to everyone on facebook live (facebook/stjohnsnorfolk.com) thanks to a very small crew consisting of our organist, our choir director, our sound technician and Pastor Randy.  We are blessed to have them all !!  Watch our services each Sunday morning until we worship together in church again.  Stay healthy!

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Because of the recent updates to health concerns surrounding COVID-19, our Wednesday Lenten services have been cancelled.  St. John's Church Council will be meeting this evening to put a plan in place as churches shut down across the state.  Please be watching for further changes.

In compliance with the recent precautions being taken to protect from Coronavirus, we will be making a few changes here at worship.  Along with various different options to sharing the peace, we will also move away from communion for a few weeks.  Offering can be placed in the plates which will be in the back of the sanctuary.  When the immediate health threat passes, we will return to our usual worship practices.

The CREATE WITH DOUGH event, scheduled for Sunday, March 15, at noon has been cancelled.  In keeping with recent group activity cancellations in the area, we will reschedule the event at a later time.  We greatly appreciate the donations of the bread machines!  Watch for future updates.

Thursday, January 23, 2020

St. John's will hold its Annual Meeting Sunday, January 26, at 1PM.  At that time we will be voting on the 2020 Budget along with electing new members to both the Church Council and the Benefaction Board.  Prior to the meeting will be our Congregational Potluck.  If you are able, please bring a dish to share at noon.  Hope to see you all there!
